My area used to have 2 or 3 'decent' stores but the owner of one sold it and started a home based business. After a couple of years of charging very reasonable prices, custom ordering and basically just being a good guy - he opened a storefront.

And it's literally 2 minutes from my office. Which is a mixed blessing.

Thought it would be interesting for anyone that's still here to talk about their local stores. What's the everyday price of a box of Instant Ocean? What's the sale price of a lawnmower blenny? Couple little things like that to see if we are all in the same boat.

Here we have:

triadreefcritters.com

Great store - great people - nice selection of $10 frags, $20 frags..... all the way up to $200 show pieces... Cheap for fish.
This week's specials:

Huge, nicely colored carpet anemones - $90
Long tentacle anemones - $46
Green bubbletip and purple sebae anemones - $46
Blue eye coral anthias - $20
Ninja star snails - $2
Turbo snails - $2.50
Coral beauty angels - $20
Adult Brazilian super red H. reidi seahorses - $150
Five bar mystery wrasse & helfrichi firefish gobies - $60
Sand sifting starfish - $10
Red firefish & engineer gobies - $8
Pistol shrimp - $12
Yasha haze shrimp gobies - $30
Sixline wrasse - $14
Scopus tangs - $30

Not too bad, eh? I remember paying $50 for a yasha hasa and being reasonably happy....

Has to be at least 6 shops all inside 30 minutes of me. 200G box of IO averages 35 to 40, I've been using ESV lately and pick it up for around 55 for the 200G mix.

Will have to start paying attention to the prices of fish, mostly Anthias and Wrasses are on my hit list right now and for the most part bartlett/evansi/carberri/randels are 3 for 100 give or take for size. Picked up a Bellus for a steal a few months ago at $40, now looking for another along with flame wrasses.

lucky you. I guess being in a more populated and more affluent area has it's perks. Smile

Nemos reef near me is decent. 200 gallon IO is $45 and a Lyretail Anthia was $15. Small hippos are $30.

My favorite was Advanced Aquatic Pets but I heard he sold it.
